STUDENT ASSISTANT - Assistants perform a variety of tasks as assigned by staff. It will be the student’s obligation to seek out a staff member in need of an assistant and supply the guidance office with a signed form from that staff member. Student assistants may be employed in the following areas: library, individual teachers, guidance office, main office, nurses office, custodial, etc. Students may be an assistant only one block per day. The student will receive ¼ credit for each quarter.

 

PEER COUNSELING - This program is designed to train students to counsel other students experiencing academic, social-emotional, personal and career concerns. Students are required to attend a 2-3 hour training session per week to learn various types of communication skills which enhances their ability to relate to others. Peer counselors are named at the end of their junior year after an extensive selection process.

 

FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA (FTA) - Seniors who are interested in a career in education, have a clean discipline record at CCHS and a 2.5 or above GPA are eligible to enter the FTA program. FTA Students interview with principals at the elementary schools and are placed in the classroom as a FTA teacher aide. This program gives you a chance to prove you are dedicated, reliable, and very interested in becoming an educator. You will be trusted to work with our children, teaching them to read, do math, and learn so many other things necessary to their continued success in school. You must be a responsible person to enter this program. Approval of the building principal is required. You must provide your own transportation to the assigned school.
