COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST - (Prerequisite: Geometry and Instructor approval) This course trains you to be an educational computer support person. Students have a very responsible position in Fremont School District RE-1. After basic training, you will continue to learn as you provide software installations, repair configurations, trouble shoot hardware problems, do hardware repair, install new equipment, train teachers new to RE-1 about our software, provide training about new software to any teacher, or help students on independent computer research. Computer Technology Specialists must provide their own transportation to their assigned school. Service learning credit is also offered for this course, because you will be needed after school hours for special programs or presentations on occasion. Applicants for this special course must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have taken math courses to at least the Geometry level, be a good role model for our students and receive instructor approval before being assigned to an educational facility. Student assignments include, positions at Skyline Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, McKinley Elementary, Washington Elementary, Caņon City Middle School, and Caņon City High School. DRAFTING - This course is designed to give vocational students the basic print reading and technical drawing skill necessary for developing working drawings used during vocational training. Many art students also find this course of study meets their needs. Drafting is highly recommended for trades and industry vocational students. v DESIGN AND DRAFTING - This pre-engineering program is certified by the American Design Drafting Association. Students interested in architecture, engineering or drafting as their first career choice are given all the basic layout and computer design skills necessary to work as a drafter or test for credit in college engineering graphic courses. Students in the program should take a college preparation schedule according to D & D requirements. A "B" grade or better in the following: Algebra I A and B, Algebra II, Geometry, and Chemistry I or Physics, and Avocational Machine Shop during the junior or senior year.For more information visit www.adda.org. |
